Co-founder of Brainwave Labs and the last living dodo, Dr. Dodo has an honorary
certificate in Anachronomaly & Parallel Universes from the great University of Clockwindistan
(it’s often useful to have a certificate handy, especially when you need to eat
cake and there are no paper plates left). Dr. Dodo invented the Galileo series of
time machines, which feature in many of the Smarties' adventures. The dodo is also
a trained dentist, but he doesn’t want you to know that.
Arby is a young prodigy who will one day grow up to be the great mathematician Aryabhata.
He was sucked into the present by Dr. Dodo's Galileo 1 time machine, and since then
he has been assisting Dr. Dodo and Skreee!! with their experiments, when not being
plunged headlong into a series of strange adventures with the other Smarties. Arby
has a particular fondness for numbers, banana fritters and robot wars.
Alby (which is what young Albert Einstein is called down in Brainwave Labs) was
sucked into the future, along with Arby, by Dr. Dodo's Galileo 1 time machine. What
he learns in BW Labs will one day prove quite useful when Alby grows up to become
one of the greatest scientists in the known universe. When not daydreaming of fermions
and bosons, Alby plays the violin and makes elaborate houses made of playing cards.
Much about Bhoomi is an enigma wrapped in a giant plantain leaf of befuddlement.
No one knows (yet!) who she is or where she came from. We only know so far that
she seems to be made of earth, fire, wind and water in equal parts, and that she
is able to fly. Bhoo also seems to possess a natural instinct for science. Whether
or not Bhoo will join the Smarties as a full-time member of Brainwave Labs is still
to be seen. Last seen, her alter ego, Detective Gaia Goel butted heads with AVAST!
(Assorted Villains And Science Terrorists!), solving a series of chemical mysteries
and saving the world in the process..
An old bearded Toda lady who does dangerous experimental things all day, she is
the other founder of Brainwave Labs. She makes mini black holes before breakfast
and eats dark matter for lunch. Because the old bearded Toda lady answers only to
loud piercing cries, and because she alone knows her real name, everyone else just
calls her ‘Skreee!!’.
